In-Clinic training sessions

Practical Training in a FAMILIAR environment

Training isn't just about teaching your dog to sit and stay. It can help them feel more confident, make veterinary care easier, and give you practical skills to use at home and in everyday life.

At The Vet Collective, we offer personalised one-on-one training sessions in our clinic with our on-site Fear Free Certified Trainer, Nat. These sessions allow you and your dog to work on specific skills in a secure, controlled and familiar environment. Each session is tailored to your dog's individual needs and goals, with a focus on positive, reward-based training.

What can we help with?

Training sessions may be suitable for:

  • Building confidence and reducing stress during routine care, eg. nail trims, grooming, ear cleaning, eye drops and tooth brushing
  • Recall, loose-lead walking and everyday life skills
  • Cooperative care, muzzle training, handling and confidence around vet visits
  • Fear of car travel, handling, objects or new environments
  • Enrichment and building food motivation
  • Foundation training for leash reactivity and selected behaviour concerns
  • Enrichment, rehabilitation support and improving food motivation
  • Behaviour modification plans prescribed by Dr Rich Seymour @ The Vet Behaviour Clinic

What is cooperative care?

Cooperative care is a positive, reward-based approach to training that teaches dogs to voluntarily participate in their own care, rather than being restrained or forced through procedures.

By teaching dogs specific behaviours and giving them a way to communicate when they're comfortable to continue, cooperative care helps build trust while reducing fear, anxiety, and stress.

The goal isn't simply to complete a procedure, it's to help your dog feel safe, confident, and in control throughout the experience.

Why train at the vet collective?

Training takes place in our secure, fully enclosed yard, surrounded by 6-foot Colorbond fencing to minimise outside distractions. This creates a calm environment where your dog can focus, learn, and gain confidence without unexpected run-ins with other dogs. With the added bonus of getting comfortable in the very place they receive their veterinary care. Building positive experiences at the clinic can make future visits less stressful and help your dog feel more confident during examinations and treatments.

Lets keep it individualised

Every dog is different, which is why sessions are tailored to your dog's temperament, experiences and individual goals.

Whether you're preparing a puppy for their first veterinary visits, helping an anxious dog become more comfortable with handling, or putting a behaviour plan into practice, we can help you build practical skills and confidence together.
